A SWEET flavour has been added to our Community Pride Awards – one of York’s biggest companies is once again backing The Press’s search for the city’s unsung heroes.

Nestlé Confectionery (UK) is sponsoring the Spirit Of Youth category, which aims to reward teenagers for showing true community spirit – and inspiring others to follow their example.

Managing director Paul Grimwood said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Spirit Of Youth category in the York Community Pride Awards again, helping to recognise the very special people who live in our community.”

Last year, St John Ambulance cadet Nathan Johnston, from Stamford Bridge, won this award, having been nominated by St John Ambulance for his swift and cool-headed response when he leapt off a bus to give first-aid to three people following a four-vehicle crash in Holtby, near York.

So if you know somebody who you feel deserves the Spirit Of Youth accolade, the time to nominate them is now.
